We are dedicated to eliminating hunger in Alaska by obtaining and providing food to partner agencies statewide.
About us
Food Bank of Alaska partners with the food industry to rescue surplus food from grocery stores, wholesalers, producers, farmers and the fishing industry. We also collect food donations from the community and manage government food programs. This food is distributed statewide to 150 partner food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers and children's programs, ensuring our neighbors in need have access to nourishing meals. Founded in 1979, Food Bank of Alaska was established with the belief that no one should go hungry and a mission to prevent good food from going to waste. Today, 1 in 8 Alaskans, including 1 in 6 children, faces hunger. Your generosity enables us to provide nutritious food to children, families, and seniors who need it most. We welcome volunteers who are eager to make a difference. For corporate donations and event sponsorships, please contact us to learn how you can support our mission to eliminate hunger in Alaska. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our community!

The Food Bank of Alaska is near and dear to our employees’ hearts. A group from our Anchorage office volunteered at a mobile food pantry, providing fresh and non-perishable food for those in the community experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers sorted and compiled boxes of food on site that were then given to individuals and families in need. In support of Hunger Action Month, our Anchorage office also contributed a total of $10,500 dollars to the Food Bank of Alaska to help stock empty shelves and support their mission to feed our neighbors. Half of the donation was raised by Anchorage staff, with the remaining amount matched by Coffman. We appreciate the amazing work the Food Bank performs every day to feed our community members.

When the lights go out, our mission doesn’t stop! Even with a power outage, our Providence Alaska volunteers were on scene in our warehouse, ready to serve. Thank you for powering through to make sure 300 families received food at the Mountain View Mobile Food Pantry this evening. 🤎

Here’s a fun twist: The 700 senior food boxes Alyeska Pipeline Service Company helped us pack up last week is nearly as tall as three-quarters of Denali’s Base Camp elevation, which sits at 7,200 feet. That’s some serious altitude for tackling hunger in Alaska! Thank you, Alyeska Pipeline Services, for aiming high with us! 📦🏔️

A heartfelt thank you to Angi Dandurand from the Anchorage Marsh McLennan Agency for making her third trip this month with an incredible food donation! Angi’s dedication (and friendly competition with another business) have resulted in over 1,000 pounds of food so far, helping us stock our shelves with essentials for Alaskans facing food insecurity. Your continued support, Angi, inspires us all and makes a real difference in the lives of those we serve. ✨ We’re grateful for your commitment (now, and in the past) to helping our community thrive this holiday season.

On this Alaska Day, we're celebrating all the little things that make up our vast, incredible state—along with the rich history that connects Alaskans to the land and each other. From salmon swimming through the creeks that have long sustained our people, to birch syrup flowing from the trees that nourish our traditions, and the potatoes harvested from our rich soils, Alaska’s history and its people are intertwined in every season. The food caches that stored our harvests through the long winters remind us of the resourcefulness and strength of Alaskans past and present. At Food Bank of Alaska, we’re proud to honor that legacy by supporting our neighbors across the state, ensuring that no one goes hungry in this beautiful land we call home. Happy #AlaskaDay from all of us at Food Bank of Alaska! 🤎🫎🏔️🎣
