Updates

  • In anticipation of Hurricane Milton, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts will close to the public, on Tuesday, October 8, through Thursday, October 10. All events and classes that would have taken place during these dates have been postponed until further notice. This precautionary closure ensures the safety of our staff, visitors, and volunteers as the storm approaches. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates regarding our reopening once the storm has passed and conditions are assessed. We urge everyone in the Tampa Bay community and across the state of Florida to take all necessary precautions before Hurricane Milton. Please follow official communications from local government officials for preparation and safety procedures. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. Please stay safe, and we hope to welcome you back to the museum soon.

  • Join FMoPA and USF Libraries as we present "The Ybor City Dwelling Album: Photos from the Great Depression Then and Now" on October 22 from 5:30 pm-7 pm! Reserve a spot through the link below. A recently digitized album of photos sheds light on the city’s early Slum Clearance efforts decades before they were known as Urban Renewal. In the online Ybor City Dwelling Album, USF librarians have curated the photos as part of an interactive map. There, viewers can explore the images and other digitized archival documents for further research. Photographer Chip Weiner generously provided contemporary images of the sites, allowing viewers to see Ybor City “then and now” as never before. Join the project team as we unveil the album and share plans for a broader digital history project called the Tampa Through Time Portal. https://lnkd.in/egTdnhwe
