📢 FinDev Canada, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and SMBC Group are partnering with HDBank through a USD 215M syndicated loan to strengthen agricultural value chains, support local enterprises, and advance #genderequality and #climateaction in #Vietnam. 🇻🇳 FinDev Canada is contributing USD 75M — marking one of its first direct investments in the country. 🌍 Reflections from #FfD4 This week, global leaders gathered for the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development to adopt the Compromiso de Sevilla - a renewed call to mobilize both public and private capital where it’s needed most. For us at FinDev Canada, this marks a full circle moment as we were born from FfD3 to help realize the Addis Ababa Agenda. Today, that vision is more urgent than ever, and this week offered many lessons: 1) With shrinking ODA and growing global uncertainty, our ecosystem must evolve - toward more coordination, less fragmentation and greater clarity of roles. 2) As bilateral DFIs, we bridge worlds: connecting the realities of local private sector with global capital, co-creating solutions, and building trust. 3) Each actor brings a unique role, and it will be leveraging the catalytic and the complementary of each of us that will make sure the sum is greater than our individual parts. 💡Did you know? GENNEIA, an independent power producer based in #Argentina, is helping drive the country’s #cleanenergy transition. It generates 19% of Argentina’s #renewableelectricity and avoids 9 times more emissions than it produces. Our loans, totaling 80 million US dollars, are helping power four new clean energy projects expected to generate 1.6 TWh of renewable electricity annually, helping avoid around 720,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year. With support from FinDev Canada, Genneia is also advancing #genderequality. La Semaine d’action pour le climat de Londres nous a réservé de bien beaux moments! Lori Kerr, cheffe de la direction de FinDev Canada, et Paulo Martelli, CFA, vice-président et directeur des investissements, ont participé à des discussions sur la mobilisation de solutions novatrices pour le climat dans les #marchésémergents, ainsi qu’à des discussions approfondies sur l’avenir du financement de l’adaptation au changement climatique et de la protection de la nature. Voici les messages clés de FinDev Canada : 1️⃣ Le #financementmixte est essentiel pour combler le déficit de financement des ODD, qui s’élève à 4 000 milliards de dollars par an, et pour combler le manque à gagner des ressources publiques. 2️⃣ Grâce à l’engagement de nos entreprises clientes comme la banque tanzanienne CRDB Bank Plc, nous sommes en mesure de fournir un financement climatique aux pays d’Afrique subsaharienne et à leurs emprunteurs, en étendant la portée de chaque dollar de développement et en atténuant les impacts du #changementclimatique. 3️⃣ Notre plateforme GAIA est un exemple de structure capable de mobiliser des milliards pour l’adaptation au changement climatique et l’atténuation de ses effets dans les marchés émergents grâce à un partage des risques innovant. 4️⃣ Les capitaux privés ont besoin du soutien des IFD pour élargir leur portée et réduire les risques de manière à attirer les capitaux privés. 5️⃣ Nous ne pouvons pas normaliser les risques dans un si grand nombre d’économies émergentes uniques. Mais nous pouvons normaliser l’approche. 6️⃣ Le Canada prend les devants en utilisant le financement du développement pour promouvoir de façon agile et novatrice une croissance durable à l’échelle mondiale. What an exciting few days at London Climate Action Week! 🌍 Lori Kerr, CEO of FinDev Canada, and Paulo Martelli, CFA, VP and Chief Investment Officer, participated in discussions on mobilizing innovative #climatesolutions in #emergingmarkets along with deep dives into the future of adaptation and #naturefinance.    FinDev Canada's messages: 1️⃣ #Blendedfinance is essential to bridge the $4 trillion annual SDG funding gap and fill the gap left by public resources. 2️⃣ Thanks to the commitment of our clients like Tanzanian bank - CRDB Bank Plc we can provide climate finance to countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and their borrowers, extending the reach of each development dollar and mitigating the impacts of #climatechange. 3️⃣ Our GAIA platform is one example of a structure that can mobilise billions for #climateadaptation and mitigation in emerging markets through innovative risk-sharing. 4️⃣ Private capital needs support from DFIs to scale and de-risk in a way that crowds-in private capital. 5️⃣ We can’t standardize risk across so many unique emerging market economies. We can standardize the approach. 6️⃣ Canada is stepping up, using development finance to be agile and innovative in driving sustainable growth globally.
