With the back-to-school season upon us, we are more inspired than ever to create safer routes for students. As part of this mission, FHI Studio is proud to share our recent work with the Connecticut Department of Transportation for the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Non-Infrastructure Program. Over the next three years, we are working to make walking and biking safer for families across Connecticut. Our team of mobility and engagement specialists is developing a cohesive program to promote safety, conduct walk audits, and create action plans for schools statewide. Exciting developments are underway in Westborough's downtown! FHI Studio, in collaboration with RKG Associates, is shaping the future of the vibrant area of Westborough, MA. We recently presented at a public workshop, discussing innovative scenarios to transform the town's rotary and enhance traffic and pedestrian safety. The preferred "triangle" scenario promises to improve traffic operations while preserving green space. We also proposed mobility enhancements, including parking improvements, bicycle lanes, and upgraded pedestrian facilities. Insights from this and prior workshops will guide a cohesive downtown plan, supporting collaboration with Massachusetts DOT. We are honored to contribute our multimodal transportation planning and design expertise to this transformative project, creating a vibrant and accessible downtown for Westborough!
