Last week, Ending Hunger Corps VISTAs had the distinct honor of being recognized by Governor Janet Mills for their incredible impact on hunger in Maine. Here's a look at some of the amazing milestones they’ve reached so far:
* 1,246 organizations received capacity-building services
* 1,699 community volunteers recruited and managed
* 7,818 service hours contributed by volunteers
* 81,980 individuals served
* 1,175,629 pounds of food provided
* 150,100 Mainers reported increased food security
These accomplishments wouldn't have been possible without Governor Mills's support, AmeriCorps's dedicated staff, and our incredible VISTAs' hard work. A special thank you goes out to Margaret Garvey, Acting Director of AmeriCorps VISTA, Sharon Bassett, Portfolio Manager of the Northeast Region, and Robert Glazier, Senior Program Officer. We are grateful for your commitment and for joining us in celebrating this incredible journey.
