"I belong to the group 'Saving with Faith in God,' I am from the Arimani neighborhood, for which I am very grateful to God and to you, who make the savings possible with the education program. I am very happy because thanks to my savings I was able to buy my refrigerator and some medicine for my baby, who has been sick and thanks to my savings I have been able to pay for his medical expenses, and I have been able to buy small things for my home." -Karla, Guatemala Episcopal Relief & Development partners with local churches and community organizations to offer micro-finance services, along with business and vocational training. By developing a marketable skill, participants like Karla can supply a needed service or product. The programs also provide loans, enabling entrepreneurs to purchase materials or inventory, along with business and marketing training that positions them to succeed. https://lnkd.in/gZ7Y2XSn #EpiscoopalRelief

Working Together for Lasting Change
About us
For over 80 years, Episcopal Relief & Development has worked with an extensive network of faith and community partners to advance lasting change in communities affected by injustice, poverty, disaster and climate change. Inspired by our faith, we reach over three million people each year by focusing on four interconnected priorities: nurturing the potential of caregivers and young children, reducing violence against women and girls, strengthening communities’ resilience to climate change and facilitating humanitarian response to disasters. Together with our partners, we leverage what’s working well to drive impact, learning and sustainability. Together, we create lasting change. Join us.

Today, our colleagues in #Ghana celebrate #FoundersDay, a national #holiday honoring all who fought for #independence, especially the "Big Six," including Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first #President of Ghana. Founders' Day allows Ghanaians to reflect on and celebrate the sacrifices that led to independence. 🇬🇭 episcopalrelief.org/ghana #EpiscopalRelief

When the recent #ParkFire began, Episcopal Relief & Development staff began providing pointed hands-on guidance that is helping the diocese begin to respond to the impacted communities once the rescue phase of the disaster is completed. Through the Diocese of Northern California long-term recovery program in partnership with Episcopal Relief & Development, churches throughout high-risk areas have been equipped with disaster community engagement training since the devastating Camp Fire in 2018 and other fires of recent years. Please pray for the impacted communities in California and those affected by fires in the western US as the emergency services work to contain the fires and bring people to safety. Donations to the US Disaster Response Fund will help provide emergency and long-term recovery support to survivors of disasters including the recent fires. https://lnkd.in/d9ttFRHg #EpiscopalRelief

A Cup of Cold Water (ACCW) is on the front lines of Maui's fire recovery efforts. Formed in 2012 by four Episcopal churches, ACCW is an outreach program that provides necessities to people living in encampments because they don't meet the requirements to stay at local shelters. Since the fires, the number of people served by ACCW has only increased, so three days a week, volunteers continue to visit central encampments across the island, offering compassion and essential support. "The people we serve love to see us drive up," says Cathy Paxton Haines, ACCW's president. "They feel accepted because we don’t judge them." Meet Kalani, a retired #publichealth professional now at the forefront of Maui's fire recovery efforts. As a representative of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai'i, Kalani brings her expertise to the community's long-term recovery, addressing the needs of Lāhainā fire survivors. "For those I've spoken to, they are still dealing with their loss, and it's still raw," she says. "It's lifetimes of family, work and culture." Kalani attends #community meetings to ensure residents' voices are heard in #rebuilding plans. She hopes to bridge the gap between Lāhainā's people and city planners, emphasizing the importance of including local desires in the reconstruction process. https://lnkd.in/dTRVbtYd #episcopalrelief #StoriesofLastingChange
