Electric Power Engineers Gives Back! Last week, members of our Austin team rolled up their sleeves and made a difference within the local community. They volunteered at the Central Texas Food Bank, where they worked to fill the needs of populations in 24 counties throughout Texas. We didn’t stop there. Our team also gathered in the office to fill backpacks with school supplies provided by our staff from our annual Backpack Drive. The backpacks were donated to Partnerships for Children, which supports kids in CPS care in Central Texas. These events fostered community engagement and reinforced our commitment to inspiring impactful change. At EPE, we strive to be a leader both on and off the grid. #LeadWithEPE #Volunteers #RenewableEnergy

We're excited to share that Cody Davis, Senior Engineering Manager - Distribution Planning, and Julieta Giraldez, Director - Integrated Grid Planning, recently participated as reviewers for Berkeley Lab's interactive Integrated Distribution System Plan (IDSP) framework. What is IDSP? Integrated Distribution System Planning (IDSP) is a comprehensive approach designed to meet customer service expectations while achieving state and utility objectives for grid planning and design. It tackles critical aspects such as: • Grid reliability • Resilience • Safety • Operational efficiency • Integration and utilization of distributed energy resources (DERs) This framework also includes a grid modernization roadmap and offers education, training, and technical assistance for public utility commissions, state energy offices, utility consumer advocates, and other state decision-makers. Why is this important? As we move towards a more sustainable energy future, the transformation of the electric distribution system becomes crucial. With new technologies like rooftop solar, battery storage, smart thermostats, and electric vehicles, the grid's evolution is evident. To ensure reliable operations, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) collaborates with states and the electric utility industry to develop guidelines and best practices for distribution system investments. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting topic! #Energy #GridModernization #Sustainability #IntegratedDistributionPlanning #RenewableEnergy #EPE
