The Democratic National Convention kicked off its first evening with a powerful theme, 'For the People,' and a tribute to former President Biden’s accomplishments, setting the stage for what’s next with Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. From the White House to union halls and countless stories shared online, we heard from everyday Americans—our friends, neighbors, and colleagues—about the significant impact of the past four years. Highlights of the night included speakers like Hillary Clinton, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, Sen. Raphael Warnock, Dr. Jill Biden, and even a surprise appearance from Harris herself. The first night of the convention emphasized the party’s dedication to advancing our nation. Their messages underscored why voters should back the Harris-Walz ticket and continue building on this historic legacy. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eGSCUibq

"A leader, in the deepest sense, is someone who speaks truth to power, who is guided by truth in pursuing justice and liberty, and who fights to preserve these ideals." - Congresswoman Joyce Beatty This month, we will question the true meaning and relationship between the words Truth and Power and how those two words can be used to our country’s great potential or to its detriment. Our focus is on how the past four years—and the years ahead—impact us and future generations, from our Black lives to our “Black jobs.” We’re bringing back that question that always arises each presidential election season: “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” and we encourage you to consider whether there has indeed been a change. Ultimately, we aim to get into John Lewis' "good trouble" while combating misinformation that hinders societal progress and encourage our EBONY community to get out and vote! This is the season of truth telling and power challenging revelations. Let’s stay informed and engaged as we shape the future of our democracy.
