Newport City Council, one of the largest local authorities in Wales, needed a modernised and user-centred platform that would reflect the values and ambitions of the city. Drupal and in particular, LocalGov Drupal, was selected in order to provide a solid and flexible foundation that would fast track the speed of delivery and prioritise the end user experience. The foundation provided by LocalGov Drupal also allowed Zoocha to meet the ambitious launch timeline. The Newport City Council platform represents the first multilingual LocalGov Drupal platform in Welsh, leveraging language translation modules with maximum flexibility for the Newport City Council team. The Zoocha development team prioritised implementing flexible functionality which would ensure a clean and easy to use editor experience for the Newport City Council team that had previously had limited experience with Drupal. Drupal is the perfect fit for building a library website that provides many services, allows users to search multiple catalogs, and serves the needs of diverse users. Evolving Web helped the Georgia Institute of Technology Library upgrade their website platform for university staff, students, and the larger community. The project involved: 🔹An upgrade to the latest version of Drupal and a design refresh 🔹Improved search experience leveraging Apache Solr for a bento box search mechanism on the homepage that searches across multiple channels and helps users seamlessly discover both on-site and external catalog content 🔹New design of user journey workflow and implementation that highlights instructional content and services 🔹Сustom component integration with Mercury, the campus-wide events calendar, to pull in Library events 🔹Deployment within the library university’s secure network, with custom automated developmental workflow to speed up back-end processes Drupal is the CMS of choice for Georgia Tech and is also widely used in higher education and library communities. The Georgia Tech Drupal User Group is a community of practice for web development on campus, benefiting from existing integrations and sharing best practices with other institutions.
