October marks National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), an acknowledgment of the need to advocate for inclusive workplaces for all and confirm commitment to ensuring disabled workers have access to good jobs, every month of every year.  This year’s theme is “Access to Good Jobs for All.”  As of 2024, people with disabilities in the U.S. face distinct challenges in the workforce. The labor force participation rate for individuals with disabilities is around 23.9%, compared to 68.3% for those without disabilities (Source: U.S. Department of Labor).  At Dress for Success®, we support all women in achieving economic independence, and we champion the need for equitable opportunities in the workplace. Learn more about National Disability Employment Awareness Month at dol.gov/NDEAM and visit dressforsuccess.org to support our mission of empowering women to access and re-enter the workforce.    #NDEAM #InclusionMatters #DressforSuccess

  • World Mental Health Day is an international day designed to bring much needed attention to global mental health education, awareness, and advocacy, and to help combat social stigma. It was first celebrated on October 10, 1992. In 1994, the day began to highlight and promote a specific theme, and this year’s theme places the spotlight on mental health in the workplace. Here are a few ways we can positively break the stigma and create positive change in our workspaces: ➡️Provide Information on Benefits: Ensure employees are aware of available mental health services, like Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), counseling, or wellness apps. ➡️Lead by Example: Have leaders and managers openly discuss mental health, share their experiences, and promote a stigma-free environment. ➡️Paid Mental Health Days: Give employees time off specifically dedicated to mental health and self-care, allowing them to recharge without guilt. At Dress for Success, we support the notion that mental wellbeing is as important as professional success. Together, we can create an empowering environment where every woman has the support, she needs to thrive both personally and professionally. #MentalHealthMatters #WorldMentalHealthDay #EmpoweredWomen
