We recently caught up with Lauren Posey, a participant in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Scholars Program. 🎓 After college, she was looking for ways to apply her knowledge and love of both environmental studies and policy: “Like many in my generation, I see climate change as the defining issue of our lifetimes. I want to be a part of making our day-to-day lives, industries, and processes more sustainable for the benefit of humanity and our precious ecosystems," said Posey. That desire to make positive change led her to an internship in the DOE Scholars Program. This program introduces students or recent college graduates to entry- and mid-level research in support of DOE and other Federal agencies' missions and operations. 💡 Learn more about how Lauren’s Scholars experience has impacted her early career work and how you can participate in the program. https://lnkd.in/gwucs3Dr #Apply #JobSearch #JobOpening #Internship #Hiring #CareerOpportunities #Jobs #EntryLevel

To round out our #EnergyActionMonth celebration, we want to showcase our final group of FEDS Spotlight honorees that are committed to achieving clean energy and sustainability. 🌟 This group of honorees are recognized as “Future Leaders”. Learn more about what actions these early career professionals are taking at their agencies to propel us toward a more sustainable future: ✍️ Amra Brightbill has made significant progress on several collaborative efforts to improve the United States Marine Corps Marine Base Hawaii's (MCBH's) energy resilience during her first year as installation energy manager. An enhanced use lease effort, in concert with the local utility, will provide energy resilience to MCBH in times of utility grid outage and/or power quality events while providing renewable energy and climate benefits. Brightbill also has championed EVs and supporting equipment, helping drive EV charging station projects forward and speed up fleet electrification efforts. 🏗️ Jade Silver has become a critical piece of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s progress toward meeting the ambitious goal to achieve 100% zero-emission light-duty vehicle acquisitions by 2027. Through Silver's leadership and collaborative relationships with DOE program offices, the department has issued a formal memorandum to promote zero-emission vehicle acquisitions and the installation of electric vehicle supply equipment across the complex, as well as a memorandum promoting sustainable practices for official travel. 💡 Ramya Tella has made an immediate and lasting impact on the U.S. Department of Transportation's Sustainability Program. Tella has been instrumental in establishing the first-ever departmentwide ISO 50001 Energy Management System Program. Her dedication and leadership to implement this program will serve as the foundation for future energy successes for many years at the department. 🌊 Allison Thompson has dramatically impacted federal sustainable purchasing practices to reduce energy, health, and materials impacts. She led the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s work on building operations for food and cafeteria services that reduce the energy and greenhouse gas emissions associated with food packaging. Her work with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to update their Subsistence Prime Vendor contract prioritized reusable food service ware and climate-friendly food procurement across 171 VA medical centers, 160 Veterans Canteen Service Operations, and more than 135 other government agency facilities. With these young leaders (and many others) at the helm, the future of clean energy at the federal level is looking bright! https://lnkd.in/gdTpH3gs #energy #water #energyefficiency #solar #decarbonization #embodiedcarbon #sustainability #cleanenergy #EnergyAwarenessMonth #DeployWithImpact

📢 NEW: The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the Federal Energy Management Program | U.S. Department of Energy announced $150 million for 67 energy conservation measures and clean energy projects at federal facilities across 28 U.S. states and territories. These grants, provided through the Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies (AFFECT) Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Federal Agency Call, will assist federal agencies in achieving net-zero goals and improve resilience through initiatives like on-site wind generation 🌬️, battery energy storage 🔋, microgrids 🔌, building automation systems 📊, and more. This historic investment marks a crucial milestone as the number of funded projects more than doubled in this second round of selections compared to the first, and it is the most money ever awarded through the program to date. The selected projects are estimated to save $41.7 million in annual #energy and #water costs and significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
