“Europe is lifting hiring freezes and in some cases finding that exceptional talent, once untouchable, is now recruitable,” said DHR's Jeanne E. Branthover. “This is causing firms in Europe to re-evaluate their own people to determine if they measure up to the new standard of remarkable talent that has suddenly become available.” According to eFinancialCareers, there was a 67% increase in global applications for financial services positions in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the previous year. Notable recent transitions include William Mansfield, a seasoned M&A leader at Credit Suisse in EMEA, moving to Deutsche Bank, and his former colleague Cathal Deasy assuming a co-head position in investment banking at Barclays.
