On Tuesday, October 29, a morning of insightful presentations on labor and employment trends, non-compete agreements, and immigration compliance, took place at PNC Park's Left Field Lounge. The event began with a breakfast, followed by a series of engaging discussions, and concluded with a networking lunch where attendees shared experiences and insights. This program was designed for in-house counsel, human resources professionals, employee benefits experts, compliance officers, sourcing specialists, finance executives, and other business leaders. Last week, Wei Yu participated in an event supporting Nucleate Pittsburgh through the organization Pitch and Run. Pitch and Run is a running club that brings together members of the tech community every Friday at 7:00 a.m. at Bakery Square. After each run, the group gathers for coffee at 8:00 a.m. to create a unique blend of fitness and networking. This past Friday, the organization supported Nucleate Pittsburgh, a student-founded organization dedicated to empowering founders and entrepreneurs through mentorship and networking opportunities. They recently hosted a bio-hackathon at Bakery Square, attracting over 200 participants, including students, investors, and advisors from all over the country. Wei was even a speaker on the HealthTech panel on Saturday where he contributed to the discussion on health technology advancements.

On October 23, Andrew Behnke served as a panelist for a moderated discussion focused on retaining international talent in the Pittsburgh region. The panel was comprised of three groups: representatives from higher education, employers, and immigration attorneys. Go Global's primary aim for this panel discussion was to encourage companies in Western Pennsylvania to embrace international talent by addressing and dispelling common myths about the perceived costs, complexities, and hurdles associated with the hiring process. It was a great opportunity to contribute to a vital conversation about enhancing our workforce and fostering inclusivity in the region! On October, 21, Samuel Braver was recognized by the Allegheny County Bar Association as a 50-year honoree at the 2024 50/60 Year Practitioners Awards Ceremony. The ceremony is a celebration for ACBA members in the Pittsburgh Legal Community who have achieved the milestone of practicing law for 50 or 60 years. The webinar, titled Fiscal Sponsorship: For the Funders, Sponsors and the Sponsored, will cover the topic of fiscal sponsorship and the most common types of sponsorship arrangements. These arrangements will be analyzed with a focus on the advantages and disadvantages of each, and the special considerations for funders, sponsors, and the sponsored. Fiscal sponsorship is a method to spawn new charitable activity when the people with the vision and the energy to do the work do not have the recognition of federal tax-exempt status.
