For our design team, healthcare compliance is not a hindrance—it's a creative opportunity to design a space that is safe, resilient, and fosters wellness. At the Presbyterian Healthcare Services Hospital Patient Tower Addition, we used evidence-based design principles to create a space that keeps patients and staff safe and comfortable, with acoustical privacy and friendly but easily maintained, finishes. Built during the COVID-19 pandemic, the design ensures a safer work place for all, with containment features like enhanced negative air pressure. Expanding a university campus with a new build is always exciting, but we also love working on targeted renovation projects. By completely updating the space of only one department or program, the university is able to quickly expand on and improve its services without the expense of a new build. That's exactly what we did for the Arizona State University Interdisciplinary Studies floor. We renovated this outdated floor with an emphasis on facilitating collaboration and improving the student and staff experience. When you look out your back window, what do you see? At the Dekker Albuquerque office in the Journal Center, we take inspiration from multifamily community Senary by Allaso coming to life right next door. We asked Senior Architect and Construction Administrator Brett Frauenglass what inspires him about the space that he looks out to every morning from the office. He says: "I'm most excited about this area becoming a vibrant community where people live, work, and play, and are able to easily walk to where they need to go. I'm already starting to see it, with people having picnics in some of the green spaces, or riding their bikes instead of driving everywhere."
