Combat Casualty Care Conference: Airdropping Blood For many casualties, receiving blood in a timely manner is the determining factor in survival. Maintaining a robust blood supply, however, presents several difficulties such as storing and resupplying inventory. On Thursday, November 14, JTS will host a presentation on the practicality and technical challenges of airdropping blood where it’s needed. Meet Christopher Martin, LPN, Assistant Family Medical Service Coordinator and Customer Relations Representative for the Educational Developmental Intervention Services in Okinawa, Japan HUMILITY: Christopher Martin, LPN has been serving EDIS since February 2024 by coordinating psychological, developmental pediatric, occupational, and physical therapy services for children and their families in school districts across Okinawa. Mr. Martin seamlessly merges the values he learned while serving in the U.S. Army and as an LPN to provide compassionate and thoughtful medical service coordination. His thorough understanding of service to the community is evident in his interactions with EDIS staff, families, and school officials. As the Customer Relations Representative, he expands upon this knowledge and expertise to ensure family concerns are addressed thoughtfully and completely. Sometimes when service members sustain severe musculoskeletal injuries amputation may be inevitable. However, saving an injured limb is always a top priority for both surgeons and researchers alike. Limb salvage -- extensive surgical and rehabilitative treatments -- is an ongoing area of interest for military medicine. 🚨ATTENTION: Military and Civilian Providers Who Deliver Reproductive Care to Active Duty Servicewomen🚨 As a follow-up to the Women’s Reproductive Health Survey, published in 2022, the Department of Defense and RAND are conducting a survey of Military Health System healthcare providers who provide reproductive care to active-duty servicewomen. The survey opened Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, and will close Friday, Jan. 17, 2025. The results will inform future policy decisions to improve the health care experience for both providers and patients. The survey is completely voluntary and confidential. Please be on the lookout for an invitation letter and invitation email (from a “rand.org” email account) with instructions for accessing the survey. We highly encourage you to participate and provide your feedback.
