As promised....some LTL carrier acquisition news.
Normally when we're talking about geography - it's related to a carrier's service footprint. While that's relevant here - I want to first share some geography related background.
Monterrey, MX.
Beautiful area surrounded by blue skies and sharp mountains. A mountain valley, one could say.
5 years ago - from family office HQ in Monterrey, Judas Ricardo Castro Salazar and his team began a quest to vet and purchase a Southwest United States LTL carrier that they could grow into THE top regional service provider powered by the best technology and equipment.
After spending 3 years talking to hundreds of companies, they found and purchased DC Logistics, back in 2022.
Since then - they've poured millions of dollars into building new technology, buying shiny new trucks and trailers, while also growing their revenue at a double digit percentage rate month over month.
This team is playing the long game. They are spending the right time and money in the right places - to build a foundation that will ensure they get a crack at being the #1 regional in that part of the country.
Oh - and what's this thing everyone is buzzing about? Near-shoring...cross border Mexico freight? Yeah - that's a major focus too.
This machine is about to scale. DC has entered an agreement as of today, which will be effective September 1st. DC Logistics is purchasing the Mountain Valley Transport LTL division from GLS US (GLS acquired Mtn Valley in 2019).
This combined entity will be rebranded as Mountain Valley once again - but with the momentum, resources and passion of DC Logistics and the resources tracing back to a long-time successful family business empire in Monterrey.
It's time to see this thing go!! Very exciting.
New Mountain Valley will involve the blend of a 50 year old LTL carrier with all of the customers, experience, and prior accolades into the super charged, data driven, leverage machine that is DC Logistics. This integration is being led by Geoffrey Milsom and Forerunners Consulting's steady hand.
DC has assembled a super team of industry experts like Matthew Marshall, James R., Barry Hale, Jamie Roberts and others to send this ship to the moon.
Congratulations to "New" Mountain Valley ("New" added by me for this post), GLS US, and legacy Mountain Valley on putting this monumental deal together where the LTL market will only benefit.
I got some feedback from a few industry friends as well...I'm out of characters, but please see below in the comments for 4 quotes from LTL leaders.
