About us
The mission of Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC) is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC coordinates the investigation and prosecution of the most severe cases of child abuse in our community. Last year DCAC served over 7,300 children (and their non-offending family members) who were sexually abused, severely physically abused, or who had witnessed a violent crime. DCAC provides a warm, child-friendly environment to help children who are referred by law enforcement or CPS. Our average client is a 9-year-old girl, sexually abused by someone she knows and trusts.

Crimes Against Children Conference Day 2 in the books! Today, I had the opportunity to present on "The Colliding Paths of Investigation and Healing Throughout the Disclosure Process" alongside Holly Dotson, LPC Supervisor We explored how disclosure is an ongoing process rather than a singular event. As a multidisciplinary team (MDT), it is crucial for us to understand this process to effectively support clients throughout their journey. Our presentation covered the various stages of disclosure and their impact on the forensic interview process. We also discussed how these stages can influence a client's presentation in therapy and potentially alter treatment recommendations. The investigation and a client's healing journey are distinct yet sometimes intersecting paths, both influenced by the child’s readiness and capacity to disclose. We also examined how the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center approaches forensic interviews and clinical services in response to these challenges.

It's time to take on another school year! We love celebrating the first of school, but here is your reminder to be careful what identifying information you share in your back-to-school photos. Not everyone on the internet has your child's best interest at heart, so it is important to limit information that could put them at risk. Avoid Sharing: 🍎 Age and grade, 🍎 School and teacher name 🍎 Details that would allow a stranger to create common ground with your child (favorite activities, interests, foods, etc.) We hope everyone has a great first day of school! ✏️ #dallascac #dcac #cactx #backtoschool #school #socialmediasafety

Thank you, Fraternal Order of Eagles Dallas, for raising crucial funds to support the children and families DCAC serves. FOE Dallas has supported DCAC for over 20 years! This year, they awarded DCAC a $2,000 grant and then raised money through concession sales, give-back days, and year-round events to raise over $14,000 for DCAC.
