  • 📣Calling all #GIS experts interested in equity and #EJ! 🗺Today, the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection issued an RFP for mapping consultants to develop a cumulative impacts tool and create an updated environmental justice (EJ) screening tool for the state.  This cumulative impacts tool, as required under CT’s amended EJ statute, will provide critical new insights into the combined potential negative impacts caused by exposures to environmental and health stressors over time. CT DEEP, regulated industries, and EJ communities can use this tool to assess whether adding or expanding certain facilities in EJ communities would contribute to existing disparities. Please read the RFP for the full scope of work Visit CTsource Bid Board and search Solicitation # DEEP07302024CM - 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eZX3XKMt 📅Questions are due by August 13, 2024. Deadline to submit a proposal is September 26, 2024.

  • 🌳🌲Yesterday, DEEP Commissioner Katie Scharf Dykes joined Governor Ned Lamont, Senator John Kissel, and other dedicated partners to celebrate an historic $14.5 million in funding to protect over 2,626 acres of open space across 18 communities! This is the largest round of open space awards in over a decade, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to preserving Connecticut's natural beauty. Open spaces are more than just scenic views; they are essential for our quality of life. They offer world-class outdoor recreation, enhance our mental well-being, and help define the character of our communities. Especially in the wake of COVID-19, the importance of accessible green spaces has never been clearer. 👏A special shoutout to our municipal and non-profit partners whose hard work has made this possible. Together, we are making Connecticut a better place to live, work, and play, for everyone. 📄 For more on this announcement, read our press release: https://lnkd.in/gxqbeJnN

  • ⚡💲Last week DEEP submitted the initial application for its proposed Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate (HEAR) program. Pending approval from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the $49.5M program will promote energy affordability, reduce the energy burden, and improve indoor air quality for low-income households (<80% AMI) in both single-family and multifamily buildings. Up-front rebates will be available for multiple upgrades, including installation of heat pumps, heat pump hot water heaters, electric stoves and ranges, heat pump clothes dryers, electric panels and wiring, and insulation, air sealing, and ventilation. DEEP is in the process of drafting the initial application for the IRA Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) program (which will provide rebates based on efficiency improvements) as well as mapping out the next phase of the application process, the Implementation Blueprints for both programs. Rebates for HEAR and HER will become available after the application processes are complete and approved by DOE and contracting with implementers has been completed. In the meantime, incentives through Energize CT, federal tax credits, and financing through the Green Bank are currently available. See our IRA Home Energy Rebate Programs webpage for more information: Inflation Reduction Act Home Energy Rebate Programs (https://lnkd.in/eGYggk5i)
