We were thrilled to host 150 colleagues at our Chicago Giving Factory last week as a part of National Diaper Bank Network's annual U.S. Conference on Poverty and Basic Needs. Diaper bank and basic needs banks leaders from across the U.S. toured our Giving Factory and gathered in community to exchange ideas as a part of the conference theme: innovate, elevate, and thrive. Cradles to Crayons CEO and Founder Lynn Margherio reflected on the power of the network's collaboration as a manifestation of C2C's core value that "we are one, and we are stronger together." NDBN's Founder and CEO, Joanne Goldblum, congratulated Lynn on her upcoming transition and highlighted that Lynn's vision and C2C's founding demonstrates how even just one person can make significant change by spotting a need and doing something about it. Thank you to NDBN and all our member colleagues for an incredible evening and inspiring conference! Cradles to Crayons knows that when we work together, our local efforts build to ensure that one day, all children will have the clothing and essentials they need to thrive. #EndClothingInsecurity #CPBN24 #EndDiaperNeed

🔔 Exciting Opportunity Alert: CEO role at Cradles to Crayons 🔔 As I shared last week, I will be stepping down from the CEO role in early 2025 after 23 incredible and rewarding years. Having worked with, and learned from, many terrific nonprofit leaders during my tenure, I know there are dynamic and passionate individuals who would do a great job as the next CEO, leading our team and volunteer "army of empathy" to ensure all kids have access to clothing and other essentials they need to thrive at home, at school, and at play. This is a fantastic opportunity and a great time to join us - we’re on the cusp of significant growth and making a huge impact in the fight to #EndClothingInsecurity across the U.S. If you’re ready to drive change and lead a team and mission that’s truly making a difference, check out the details here: CEO Role at Cradles to Crayons. https://lnkd.in/e2V96ZJN #Leadership #CareerOpportunity #NonProfit #JoinUs #PutKidsFirst

Founder and CEO Lynn Margherio recently spoke with Boston Globe Media about her decision to step down as CEO early next year. Lynn’s vision and passion have empowered us to support millions of children in communities across the United States, and we are so grateful for all she has done for us these last 23 years. Please join us in expressing our gratitude to Lynn for creating such an incredible community of volunteers, colleagues, and friends who will continue to make a lasting impact! #EndClothingInsecurity
Speaking with Jon Chesto from Boston Globe Media about my upcoming transition took me back to the early days founding Cradles to Crayons—cold calling, driving trucks, and getting lost in Boston's pre-GPS streets. We were taking orders by fax and jumping on every "yes" despite countless "no's." I relied on help from family, friends, and colleagues, always worrying I’d run out of favors. At the end of March 2025, after 23 years, I’ll be stepping down as CEO and passing the baton to a new leader. It’s been a dream to build this team and grow this movement to #EndClothingInsecurity. I’m looking forward to my next challenge and will always be a cheerleader for Cradles to Crayons. I’ll never forget walking into our first Giving Factory warehouse in Quincy, MA, and seeing volunteers who chose to be there. Volunteerism has been our secret sauce, helping us grow from 200 packages in our first year to 1 million this year across Massachusetts, Chicago, Greater Philadelphia, NYC, and San Francisco. With 6 million packages distributed and 1 million volunteers, we owe so much to our network of 300 Service Agency partners, National Board members - Dean Athanasia, Nancy Carpenter, Gerard du Toit, Jeffrey Alpaugh, Melissa York, Julie Daum, June Yang, Jay Bhatt, Michael Ewald, Darren H Burton, Todd Cook, our corporate partners - Bank of America, The TJX Companies, Inc., Discover Financial Services, First Quality, Bain Capital, Bain & Company, Comcast, AbbVie, Enova, MFS Investment Management to name a few, our Market Boards, leadership councils, community partners, individual and family volunteers. Diaper Need is a serious issue that impacts families across the country. 75% of families would accept support if they knew where to find it—yet only 19% of surveyed families have received diapers from a diaper bank. This gap highlights a critical need for awareness and action. Shockingly, there are no federal government programs that directly help families purchase diapers or other material basic necessities. Spread the word and join Cradles to Crayons as we work to #EndDiaperNeed and #EndClothingInsecurity. National Diaper Bank Network https://hubs.li/Q02QBlVj0

1 in 2 families lack the resources to afford the high cost of diapers, making diaper need a reality for too many families across the country. That’s why Cradles to Crayons provided more than 8.67 million diapers to children across our network last year. But we know we have much more work to do to provide reliable and sustainable resources to #EndDiaperNeed and #EndClothingInsecurity for all children. Diapers cost a minimum of $70-$80 a month, pushing families to make impossible financial decisions. Diaper need is a public health crisis, forcing parents to choose between basic essentials and their child's well-being. With 40% of U.S. households with children struggling to meet weekly expenses, the rising cost of diapers and necessities is placing a major burden on families in poverty. It's time to take action.
