The Cook County Justice Advisory Council is looking for organizations that provide housing and additional wraparound support services. The initiative aims to reduce community violence and prevent recidivism by enhancing housing options and support for individuals facing housing insecurity, including those with criminal justice system involvement. This day marks the true liberation of enslaved people in the United States, a significant milestone in our nation’s ongoing journey toward justice and equality.   At Cook County, we are committed to advancing these principles through our dedicated efforts to promote equity, justice, and community well-being. Our work, particularly through our Equity Fund Taskforce, reflects our dedication to implementing transformative systems-level changes that address structural barriers and create safe, healthy, and thriving communities for all residents, especially those who have been historically marginalized.   Juneteenth is not just a historical date but a reminder of the work that remains to be done. As we reflect on this day, let us reaffirm our commitment to equity and justice in all aspects of our work. Yesterday was a day of celebration and unity as I joined Cook County Commissioners and fellow elected officials for our Pride Month Celebration! We were moved by the powerful words of LGBTQ+ leaders and dazzled by a stunning drag performance from Coco Sho-Nell. Let's continue to support and uplift our LGBTQ+ community. Happy Pride!

During Gun Violence Awareness Month, Cook County is reflecting on what is working to build peace in communities. On June 18th at 12pm the Justice Advisory Council (JAC) is hosting a community conversation on violence prevention led by Dr. Whitney Key Towey, the JAC's Data and Research Director and Aaron Brown, Program Supervisor and youth engagement expert from community-based organization, Lawrence Hall. Joining our featured speakers will be a special guest, JaKobe Jones, a Lawrence Hall alumni and emerging young adult leader.
