Convoy of Hope is on the ground in Sarasota, Florida, working with church partners and local emergency management to serve those affected by #HurricaneMilton. We have resourced several partners across the state with relief supplies to distribute to communities. Back-to-back hurricanes — including #HurricaneHelene — left Floridians and nearby states reeling, but Convoy is there both in the immediate aftermath and for the long haul. A driving passion to feed the world
About us
Convoy of Hope is a faith-based, nonprofit organization with a driving passion to feed the world through children’s feeding initiatives, community outreaches and disaster response. As a faith-based, international, humanitarian-relief organization strategically based in Springfield, Missouri — the crossroads of America — our goal is to bring help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry and hurting. Convoy of Hope was founded in 1994 by the Donaldson family. Their inspiration for starting the organization can be traced back to the many people who helped their family after their father, Harold, was killed by a drunk driver in 1969. Today, more than 70 million people have been served throughout the world by Convoy of Hope. We are proud that we work through churches, businesses, government agencies and other nonprofits to provide help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry and hurting.

As millions grapple with the damage caused by #HurricaneMilton, others are still recovering from #HurricaneHelene across the country. Convoy of Hope is ready to help those impacted by Milton and continues to help Helene survivors — here is Convoy's Ethan Forhetz with more. Last night, #HurricaneMilton made landfall as a Category 3 hurricane in Siesta Key, sparing Tampa the direct hit. Milton brought treacherous sustained winds of 120 mph and 8 to 10 feet of storm surge in Sarasota County. But Convoy is on the ground in Florida prepared with supplies. Volunteers from the Perry, Florida, community packed more than 3,000 bags of groceries, and additional vehicles were deployed a few days prior from Convoy's World Distribution Center to be ready for distributions. Convoy is there to help ensure those impacted have what they need to begin recovering from these disastrous storms. 🚨 The latest on #HurricaneMilton and #HurricaneHelene 🚨 Convoy of Hope is now responding to two major disasters. Businesses and homes are boarded up and Floridians have evacuated in preparation for Hurricane Milton, which is now a Category 3 storm. Convoy of Hope is preparing supplies and team members to help survivors once the storm passes. We are also helping in towns affected by Hurricane Helene, where survivors still need help. During our response to #HurricaneHelene — and soon, to #Milton — we’re reminded of how partnerships make for greater impact and scope during a disaster response. Today we’re taking a look at two of those key partners who are stepping up to help fill the gaps. Thank you for your continued prayers for the safety of those in the path of the storm and for our team members on the ground as they prepare to respond. **You can support survivors of the hurricanes by visiting the links below:** Helene Response - https://h.ope.is/482gQ98 Milton Response - https://h.ope.is/3U27Pao

The Tampa Bay area is a ghost town as Floridians quickly evacuate or hunker down ahead of #HurricaneMilton's landfall this evening. Tampa, home to 3 million people, has not been directly hit by a hurricane in over 100 years. Milton, currently a Category 4 storm, is likely to strike Fort Myers, which was hit back in 2022 by Hurricane Ian, along with the FLorida Keys and Miami-Dade county. Convoy team members are on the ground ready with pre-positioned team members and supplies. Hope during #HurricaneHelene: When Convoy responds to a disaster, we get the unique opportunity to see communities come together and help each other. Last week, Convoy partnered with a church, high school, and police department in Vidalia, Georgia, to serve hundreds of Hurricane Helene survivors at a drive-thru distribution. More than 70 volunteers from the community — including sports teams, police, and the mayor — came together to serve others. “You guys met a tremendous need,” said Pastor Joe Gabbard. “It was a huge blessing to our community.” Read more 👉 https://h.ope.is/3YjzINO #helene #milton #recovery #florida #northcarolina #georgia #tennessee #virginia

Distributions have taken place in 40 communities across six different states in the Southeast and are continuing so #HurricaneHelene survivors can get the supplies they need. In Morganton, North Carolina, more than 65 volunteers bagged over 2,000 bags of groceries to distribute in surrounding communities. Nearly 500 volunteers across the Southeast have mobilized with Convoy to help serve their neighbors. Convoy will continue to provide supplies, support, and hope to people in desperate need — visit convoy.org/helene to help. As Convoy continues to respond to #HurricaneHelene, the team is also monitoring #HurricaneMilton — a powerful Category 4 storm — as it roars toward Florida's west coast. Debris left by Hurricane Helene could make Milton more dangerous, and this could mark the largest evacuation Florida has seen since 2017. As we continue response to Helene and prepare to respond to Milton, the best way to help is to give to our Disaster Relief Fund, which will go directly to helping those affected.
