Honored to have Secretary Deb Haaland visit our Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) team this week! On Tuesday, Secretary Haaland met with ALCC staff and crew members in Acoma Pueblo, New Mexico, and at the Canyon of the Ancients National Monument, where they worked on traditional food system and historic preservation projects to support the community. We are deeply grateful for your time, support, and recognition of the important work being done to preserve ancestral lands and empower future generations! Recently, our Stewards Individual Placements Program Coordinator, Kevin Record, visited the Historic Preservation Training Center interns at Fort Laramie, Wyoming! Fort Laramie, once a hub along the Oregon Trail, is now home to important preservation projects thanks to interns like Alexander Cochran and Andrew Ezzelle. They’ve been hard at work restoring historic structures like the Officer’s Quarters and Post Hospital, learning practical skills along the way. As Kevin noted, "The best takeaways for them have been the opportunity to develop their skills while preserving the history of these structures!" And even more exciting news: Andrew will be heading to Yosemite as a historic preservationist for the winter season, while Alexander plans to apply his trades skills in the private sector! 🔥 A huge shoutout to the Women+ Fire cohort out of Appalachian Conservation Corps for their incredible service as they work in and around New River Gorge National Park and Shenandoah National Park! 🌲 These trailblazers are working hard on the frontlines of wildland firefighting and natural resource management, protecting our public lands while gaining essential hands-on experience and certifications. From tackling tough terrain and extreme conditions to managing wildfire risks, they’re going above and beyond in their service. This program not only prepares them for careers in firefighting, but also connects them with federal employees and equips them with the tools to navigate the federal land management system! Incredible work!! 💪🔥 Appalachian Conservation Corps

We are incredibly grateful for the support of AmeriCorps CEO Michael D. Smith, who visited our Conservation Corps North Carolina crews who have been displaced due to hurricane Helene at Camp Slocum this week. Smith got the opportunity to chat with our members, tour the CCNC facility and ask them about their experiences serving with AmeriCorps. With each challenge we face, we are reminded of the vital role service-minded individuals play in rebuilding and strengthening our communities. We are committed to standing by North Carolina every step of the way. 💚 Conservation Corps North Carolina AmeriCorps

🌟 Meet Claire Burnet, a Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) at Acadia National Park and a member of the first-ever Climate Cohort, a group focused on advancing climate resilience in vulnerable areas! As a CVA, Clare has combined her passions for outdoor education, climate change resilience, and community engagement while working in a place she loves. From leading "Save Our Summits" hikes to carrying out climate-smart restoration projects, Clare’s role is as varied as it is impactful. One of her favorite moments? Leading a group of young girls up Hadlock Brook Trail, where they joyfully declared the view “better than Six Flags and Disney!” 🌄✨ Read More about Claire's service here: https://lnkd.in/eniX_p5S #ConservationLegacy #CVA #ClimateCohort #AcadiaNationalPark #ClimateResilience #AmeriCorps #VolunteerAmbassador #PublicLands #CommunityEngagement #SaveOurSummits #NationalParks Stewards Individual Placements Acadia National Park

🌟 We’re thrilled to see the partnership between BLM Colorado and our Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) continuing to create impactful opportunities for Indigenous youth! This year, BLM welcomed two new interns through ALCC, including Macy Robinson (Cherokee), who’s been making great strides as a Visitor Center Intern at Canyons of the Ancients National Monument (CANM). Macy has been hard at work connecting visitors to the cultural heritage of the region and developing her own interpretation project on the concept of “kiikiqo” (Hopi for "footprints"). Her passion for sharing Indigenous perspectives and educating others about the importance of visiting ancestral sites with respect is truly inspiring! 🙌 Read more about Macy and the lasting impact she’s making at CANM. 💚 https://lnkd.in/gKHXGJAd Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Bureau of Land Management

Big congratulations to Kristian Broche for being recognized by The Service Year Alums Awards! 🎉🏆 During his time with Appalachian Conservation Corps, Kristian used his AmeriCorps service to bridge cultural and linguistic divides at the C&O Canal in Western Maryland. By creating bilingual boat tours and culturally relevant activities, he fostered inclusion, connected local Latino communities with the park’s history, and helped make the outdoors a welcoming space for all. We’re so proud of the lasting impact you’ve made, Kristian! 🙌 Appalachian Conservation Corps Service Year Alliance AmeriCorps
