📣 Homelessness is not a crime! 💬“Punishing individuals and families experiencing homelessness is neither a humane nor an effective way to address homelessness,” says Erica Embree Ettinger, who has litigated such fines before and secured their dismissal on the basis that they were not in the interest of justice. “Fines and convictions can jeopardize people’s ability to secure housing and find employment in the future. Over the next 10 weeks, they'll bring our mission to life, learning how to provide compassionate, holistic and impactful legal services and #MakingJusticeReal4SoCal They'll develop a broad understanding of the issues facing low-income and underserved communities in our service area and gain in-depth experience in one of our practice areas. They'll produce a writing sample and have the opportunity to network with our attorneys, board members, and each other.
