CMC Alumni Achievement! 🎓 Last summer, Jenelle Stefanic, a Colorado Mountain College alumna and Water Treatment Supervisor at the US Bureau of Reclamation in Leadville, was honored with the Department of the Interior’s Meritorious Service Award. This award recognizes her exceptional contributions to improving water quality in the Arkansas River basin. A 1997 graduate with an Associate of Applied Science in Environmental Technology, Jenelle attributes her success to the hands-on learning, supportive community, and solid foundation she gained at Colorado Mountain College. Without qualified ropeway mechanics, lift-served ski areas across the country can't operate, so training a new generation of mechanics for these year-round jobs is vital to snow sports. Colorado Mountain College and Alterra Mountain Company offered over 20 lift mechanics from U.S. resorts an intensive four-week training during late spring. Spencer Wilson, mountain reporter for KCNC CBS Colorado, spent an afternoon at Copper Mountain Resort with the program's most recent cohort. Graduation advice from a river guide: Rig for a flip. Set yourself up for dealing with each problem that comes along. 👏 It's hard to believe it's been one month since we celebrated the Class of 2024! Greg Felt, Chaffee County Commissioner and CMC Salida's commencement speaker, shared invaluable wisdom drawn from his river guiding experience. His 'rules of the river,' from navigating challenges to focusing on pathways, resonate deeply with all our graduates. As you embark on new adventures, may you remember to "rig for a flip", make friends at the put-in, focus on pathways, and always celebrate milestones along the way. Relive the highlights of CMC Salida's commencement ceremony in the Ark Valley Voice's article by Merrell Bergin. https://bit.ly/3Kndqmh
