During her time with Colaska, Gabi has been an integral part of our Project Engineering team through our Business Rotation Program. This program is designed to foster teamwork and collaboration, allowing new team members to experience how Colas USA operates across various departments. This summer, I had the opportunity to work on the Juneau International Airport Rehabilitation project. We were tasked with upgrading various facilities, including those for large commercial jets, small commuter air taxis, and cargo aircraft. With this experience, I was able to see the airport from a very unique perspective and recreate a photograph from the 1980s. Hopefully, this will provide insight into Secon's long history within Southeast Alaska.

CREATES team successfully completed the construction of Highly Elastic Asphalt pavement test sections at the Cold Region Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) research facility in Fairbanks, Alaska. Funded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense (DoD) this project aims to mitigate the low-temperature cracking in asphalt pavements in cold regions. Our research team developed asphalt binders that can sustain extreme low temperatures. Sensors embedded in pavement sections will capture strain data allowing us to evaluate their performance. Now, the next phase involves a year-long data collection to assess these Highly Elastic Asphalt Mixes. A special thanks to the people who dedicated their valuable time with patience, efforts and made this construction a success: CREATES Team, ERDC Team, and COLASKA INC.
