If you’re looking for a little light Sunday reading, I wrote up my observations on the activity in the Robotics Foundation Models space. 100s of millions of investment dollars are flowing in right now. Is this a hype cycle or just an indication of the speed of innovation in AI right now? We have decided to do something a little bold. We’re sharing Cobot’s Series B pitch narrative publicly. As part of our Series B fundraising process earlier this year, most of our prospective investors asked for a deck. But one prospective investor, Jeff Bezos, asked for an evidence-based narrative in 1-page plus FAQs. We distilled our pitch deck into a classic Amazon-style 1-pager plus FAQs. Very few, if any, Amazon-style evidence-based narratives exist outside of Amazon. We’re pleased to share ours as a reference example. Oh and we’re excited to share Jeff Bezos did invest in Cobot’s Series B through Explore LLC alongside General Catalyst (lead), Sequoia, Khosla, Lux Capital, Industry Ventures, Bison VC, and Mayo Clinic! We've taken a very intentional approach to organically building our culture. We recently wrote down over 50 stories about what employees have done and then asked ChatGPT to illuminate what stands out in those stories. The results were fascinating.

Our team is now 60 strong (this photo shows 38 of us). Of those 60, we’re proud to have 20 talented women on board. Why does this matter? We know that some of the best minds in robotics today are women, and we’ve been fortunate to work alongside many of them throughout our careers. We also recognize that many robotics startups tend to be male-dominated, which can make it challenging to build a truly inclusive culture. We believe creating an environment that can attract and retain top talent gives us a unique edge in a competitive industry.

We’re not using that much 3D printing for our production robots, more for R&D and testing new component designs quickly. But it’s still super cool to see great prints coming out.

Great new article by Michael Vogelsong, our Head of Foundation Models AI. He surveys the current approaches that are being pursued and describes the challenges and promises of each approach.
