About us
CNA is a nonprofit research and analysis organization dedicated to the safety and security of the nation. It operates the Center for Naval Analyses — the only Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) serving the Department of the Navy — as well as the Institute for Public Research. CNA is dedicated to developing actionable solutions to complex problems of national importance. With nearly 700 scientists, analysts and professional staff, CNA takes a real-world approach to gathering data. Its one-of-a-kind field program places analysts on carriers and military bases, in squad rooms and crisis centers, working side-by-side with operators and decision-makers around the world. CNA supports naval operations, fleet readiness and great power competition. Its non-defense research portfolio includes criminal justice, homeland security and data management.

Today was CNA’s annual Awards Day, when we celebrate dedicated and inspiring CNAers! Our CEO, Katherine McGrady, presented the following awards: Dr. Rebekah Yang received the Phil E. DePoy Award for Analytical Excellence for her work with the FAA on uncrewed aircraft, machine learning, and AI. The CEO Teamwork Award went to CNA’s FEMA Grants Management Modernization Team. This team has worked for nine years to help modernize FEMA’s grant system by developing FEMA GO. Today, that program handles 36 grant programs, supports 84,000 users, and helps award more than $5 billion in grants. Congratulations to team members James Baney, Maeve Budi, Christopher Buendia, Jocelyn Cox, Pewu Mulbah, MBA, Rebecca Norton, Hugh Youngblood, Shaelynn Hales, Michael Kujawski, and Erin Mohres. The Mary Ann Pianka and Carey Kellam Award recognizes exceptional service to CNA. This year’s winner was Ronald Young Sr, CNA’s facilities manager, who is so essential to our operations that we count on him to keep the lights on. The Deployer Award recognizes the sacrifice of CNA field representatives who deployed at sea for several months or to combat zones. Three analysts received the award this year: Dr. Ray Wang deployed aboard the first-of-its-kind aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford. Annie Voigt was stationed aboard USS Carl Vinson as the technical lead for the Navy’s new Data Science @ Sea project. And Kevin O'Connell, who served with Carrier Strike Group 2 in the Red Sea as it protected shipping from missiles and unmanned aircraft launched by Houthi rebels. Congratulations to all our winners! You represent the best of our organization! #DNAofCNA Check out our album on Facebook for more pictures from the ceremony and reception: https://lnkd.in/gvFVhMZv Pictured: CEO Katherine McGrady, Depoy Award Winner Rebekah Yang, Mary Ann Pianka and Carey Kellam Award winner Ronald Young, Maeve Budi representing the Teamwork Award winners, and Ray Wang representing the Deployer Award winners.
