The City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS) is commemorating National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week with the launch of a citywide coat drive at 6 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2024 at Smoky Rose. Individuals of all ages are invited to attend. This event is also the first anniversary celebration of the OHS Friends Group, a 300-member community whose members serve Dallas’ unhoused neighbors through projects organized by OHS. Bring a new or clean gently used adult-sized winter coat and learn more about the OHS Friends Group and Friends Group Junior while enjoying free live music, appetizers, and non-alcoholic beverages. For every coat donated, guests will receive a raffle ticket for a $100 Smoky Rose gift card (must be present to win). Coats can be dropped off through Dec. 31, 2024 at Smoky Rose, principal sponsor of this year’s coat drive, and at select Dallas Public Library locations: dal.city/CoatDrive2024. Help OHS reach their goal to collect 1,000 coats! To RSVP for the event or to receive more information about the OHS Friends group, email [email protected]. #HHWeek #BeTheSolution #GiveResponsibly
