About us
Communities In Schools of Nevada (CIS) is the nation’s leading evidence-based stay-in-school organization, serving 110 schools across the state – nearly one in five Title I or high-needs schools. CIS believes every child has potential – regardless of race, zip code or socioeconomic background – but may lack equal opportunity to succeed. In total, CIS of Nevada serves nearly 100,000 students attending 13 schools in Western Nevada, 15 schools in Northeastern Nevada, and 80 schools in Southern Nevada. Nationally, Communities In Schools provides services in more than 3,270 schools in 25 states and the District of Columbia, serving 1.8 million young people and their families every year. ✨The Giving Machines are back and we are thrilled to once again participate!✨ We had the pleasure of celebrating the opening of the machines with other participating nonprofits, The Basic High School Choir and special guests including members of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Runnin' Rebel Basketball team, current coach Kevin Kruger and previous coach Lon Kruger. You can stop by the District at Green Valley Ranch through Jan. 1 to purchase essential items that will support the students we serve in 82 Clark County School District schools! November is Family Engagement Month! Our site coordinators work hand-in-hand with parents and caregivers, empowering them to be present and support their children’s success in school. Family engagement is also essential to improving attendance! CIS understands that students can miss school for a variety of reasons including lack of transportation, and housing or food insecurity. That’s why the CIS model is designed to support kids in the classroom and their families by connecting them to essential resources and supports.
