As part of our Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, we completed visual inspections on all overhead distribution circuits impacted by Hurricane Beryl to identify equipment or vegetation-related issues that could create future outages. This is a key action item in our plan to increase the resiliency of our system.

This month, our team, contractors and mutual aid partners are working all across Houston to strengthen the grid and reduce the risk of outages before the next major storm as part of Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative. This is just the start though. We'll continue to make the necessary improvements well beyond these 30 days to make sure we are prepared for future storms and are committed to re-earning the trust of the customers and communities we are privileged to serve.

As part of our Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, we’ll be replacing approximately 1,000 wooden poles with stronger fiberglass poles that can withstand hurricane-force winds up to 132 mph. We’re determined to improve resiliency and reduce the risk of outages from the next major storm or hurricane.

We sincerely apologize for the frustrations many of our customers experienced as a result of Hurricane Beryl. We are determined to improve resilience and re-earn your trust as part of our Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative, a company-wide commitment to become the most resilient coastal grid in the country. Beginning this month, our crews and contractors will work hard to help reduce the risk of future storm-related outages by trimming or removing vegetation, installing stronger poles that can better withstand hurricane-force winds up to 132 mph and system automation devices that can help reduce the impact of outages during storms.
