Providing comprehensive solutions to ending homelessness and achieving self-sufficiency.
About us
Central City Concern is ending homelessness by treating the whole person, as a person. Each year, more than 13,000 people turn to us for compassionate support to become self-sufficient and productive. The factors that contribute to homelessness are complex. A web of structural weaknesses and individual circumstances surrounds our clients, leaving them vulnerable at many points in their lives. We draw on more than 40 years of front-line experience to provide the help people need when they need it most. CCC’s approach addresses both the systemic drivers of homelessness and the individual factors that can reinforce it. We help our clients overcome barriers such as lack of affordable housing, health care and living-wage jobs, systemic racism, mental health challenges, chronic health conditions, substance use disorders, and time spent in the justice system. And everything we do rests on our foundational belief in the restorative power of human connection and dignity. Empowered by our staff, donors, partners and volunteers, we’re creating a proven solution for our community — one person at a time.

Thank you to Mahindra Racing for taking the time to meet with Rachel Maas, our Director of Climate Action, to discuss our sustainability and climate action efforts at CCC!
Ahead of the Formula E #PortlandEPrix this weekend, we took a visit to two unique sustainability initiatives in the city. Firstly, we met Central City Concern, a non-profit organisation providing comprehensive solutions to ending homelessness and achieving self-sufficiency. With a formal approach to climate action, the organisation focuses on key pillars to ensure sustainability is at the heart of their work. Sustainability is similarly at the heart of Mama & Hapa's, a zero waste shop designed for Portland residents to reduce their use of single use plastic by only buying what they need - from locally sourced products.

KOIN 6 joined CCC’s Community Volunteer Corps (CVC) program to learn about how employment plays a pivotal role in recovery. “CCC’s data shows if someone is introduced to employment services at any point in their recovery journey, they’re seven times more likely to remain employed, housed and clean.” Watch segment: https://bit.ly/4beHiw0 Read article: https://bit.ly/45yOm5u #endhomelessness #employment #recovery #jobs #portland

Central City Concern reposted this
As we lead into Season 2 of the We Believe in Portland video series of different leaders in Portland, I got the chance to chat with Andy Mendenhall M.D., who is President + CEO of Central City Concern. Thx for the intro, Laura J. Recko! He talks about the critical services around healthcare and housing to Portland's most vulnerable populations. I had no idea they served over 15,000 Portland people - far bigger scale than I imagined. Andy also shares on the personal front about what makes Portland one of the best cities in the country. #webelieveinportland #leadership And, don't forget to sign up for the big Sept 13 event! https://lnkd.in/gcXRg5en

We're all touched by our nation's addiction crisis, from the highest office in the land to our neighbors and family members. According to survey findings published earlier this year by the nonprofit research institute RAND Corporation, about 42% of adults in the United States say they personally know at least one person who died from a drug overdose. Thanks to CNN and our President and CEO Andy Mendenhall M.D. for creating awareness and de-stigmatizing this disease. #endhomelessness

Help us celebrate 45 years of impact by donating today! Your gift will directly support our employment and job training programs, helping ensure even more comeback stories.
