Our mission is to provide every child in need with trained volunteer advocates to ensure their safety.

About us

We train and supervise volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children who are in foster care. Through our volunteers, CASA advocates for the educational, health, and safety needs of children in care. Our vision is to provide a CASA for every child. In order for CASA to fully accomplish its mission, our volunteers, staff and board will be cognizant of and sensitive to each child’s/family’s frame of reference, including their heritage, culture, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, socio-economic status, place of birth, disabilities, and/or family structure. Volunteers will be able to sensitively communicate with the child and their family and in turn appropriately communicate the child’s needs to the court while considering diversity, equity, and inclusion for each case. CASA will strive to achieve a volunteer base, staff, and board of directors that reflects the diversity of children in the judicial and child welfare systems as well as its community. Volunteer service will be made accessible to all individuals regardless of gender identity, age (must be 21), ethnicity, socio-economic situation, or disability. Cultural awareness and competency is an integral component of all training for board, staff, and volunteers. Marion County is a diverse county with rural and urban areas.

Here's a clip, created by the pros at Capital Community Media! At this year's luncheon, our CASA teen returns to share highlights from her freshman year so far at Linfield University. • Please welcome Melissa to CASA of Marion County, our new Bilingual Advocate Coordinator! A graduate of Western Oregon University, Melissa will recruit, train, and supervise bilingual CASA volunteers to help us serve bilingual children and families across Marion County. In her own words: My name is Melissa, I was born in Washington but was raised in beautiful Oregon. During my spare time I love to spend time with my family, bake, cook, go on hikes, and enjoy spontaneous activities. I am a first generation graduate with a major in Public Policy and Administration and a minor in Criminal Justice. I am also proudly a Family Ford Foundation scholar alumni. As a Latina and first generation grad, I am honored to have had the opportunity to continue my education making my family proud, but most importantly my son, as I hope to inspire him to one day do the same. I am honored to join the CASA of Marion County team as its newest Bilingual Advocate Coordinator. Furthermore, I am eager to embark on this journey of knowledge and experience that will enhance my success in this role. To conclude, I am especially excited to know that my contributions will positively impact the lives of many children in our communities. [...]
