On my first Father’s Day with two children, I took a moment this morning before everyone woke up to reflect on the significance of this day. I am filled with immense gratitude for the blessing of being a father and the renewed motivation it has brought into my life. Fatherhood has taught me that work and personal life are more intertwined than ever. It has taught me that it’s essential to find motivation to propel us forward, putting one foot in front of the other, day by day, even and especially during life's darkest times. Early in my life, I was driven by a chip on my shoulder, determined to overcome the adversity I faced. Today, being a father has transformed my outlook. My focus has shifted from scarcity to abundance, and I am motivated to build a brighter future for "My Why’s." I am deeply grateful for these daily reminders of why we must all do our part to leave this world better than we found it. Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible fathers out there! #FathersDay #Motivation #MyWhy #NextGeneration

Founder & CEO Ryan Williams shares lessons following his panel discussion at the iConnections Salt Conference in #NewYork!

Memorial Day reminds us of sacrifice, future possibility and reflections on the lives of so many American heroes who often times beat seemingly insurmountable "odds." Just before the holiday, I spoke at the iConnections SALT conference about the "Death of commercial real estate being greatly exaggerated," alongside Leah Dillon, Margaret Anadu, and Anar Chudgar. It was refreshing to discuss the reality that our industry was down, but not out! Yes, immense challenges exist within commercial real estate, but even GREATER opportunities that underscore these challenges are approaching. CBRE reports a 10% year-over-year increase in Q1 2024 investment volume, signaling a thaw in the U.S. market. My life journey reflects this paradigm. With great partners (Derrick Barker and Charles Cole), we built a single-family investment business in the 2008 -09 downturn. And with another set of great partners, we built Cadre, a proptech company when many scoffed at tech's role in real estate. My motto: "I don't let proclamations define my reality." Commercial real estate is transforming, not dying. At Cadre, we're targeting sectors positioned for growth: e-commerce, cloud computing, data centers, and the widening rent-to-own gap. The key, as partners Mike Fascitelli and Dan R. remind me, is to find micro-opportunities in a complex macro environment. Personally, I'm a testament to defying limitations. Born in Baton Rouge without industry connections, I built a successful career. The first in my family to attend Harvard, I launched a real estate platform at Harvard University during a so-called "dying real estate market." Cadre, now proud partners and members of the Yieldstreet family too has navigated challenges, but our strength is our focus on the good and opportunities ahead. After all, "resilience is seeing the sunshine after the storm." Today, we stand stronger, ready for the unprecedented opportunities coming. To my fellow investors: Don't always believe the headlines. Commercial real estate is a survivor, and the future is bright with potential. I will continue to choose to embrace innovation and focus on surrounding myself with partners who also pledge to turn challenges into triumphs. #CommercialRealEstate #Investment #Leadership #Resilience #Opportunities #Cadre #SALTConference #Yieldstreet

I landed back in NY this week after a whirlwind trip, feeling the travel fatigue ahead of an interview I had with Bloomberg TV to discuss the state of the real estate market. But then as I arrive home, I walk in the door and see my two favorite people two years and under together. Chaos? Absolutely. But also pure joy and a reminder that even in the toughest moments, there's always beauty to be found. This mirrors the world of real estate investing. Over the past couple of days, amidst investor meetings filled with market concerns and questions, one insightful investor offered a refreshing perspective: real estate's beauty lies in its vastness. Even in challenging times, there are hidden gems – micro-opportunities waiting for proactive, optimistic hunters. That's why I was honored to share my thoughts on Bloomberg TV's #WallStreetWeek with David Westin and Katie Greifeld. We discussed how Cadre, a next generation investment manager, is finding significant opportunities in some of the most disrupted segments – middle-market and mid-cap multifamily and industrial real estate challenged with regional bank exposure. These "stressed" owners and operators need solutions, and our latest investment product Cadre Direct Access Fund II(https://lnkd.in/eSRh7k94) is positioned to deliver critical capital and liquidity. Gratitude to my incredible investment team – from Dan R. to Ross Wasserman to Josephine Scesney and new partners like Michael Weisz and Ted Yarbrough– who constantly inspire us to stay on the front foot even when others are on the back foot. And of course, to these two little ones who keep my perspective grounded, no matter how chaotic the world gets. As a kid originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, far removed from the world of alternative investments, I was fortunate to get exposure to the real estate, and technology industries after college. My experiences revealed the lucrative world of alternative investments, industries accessible to a small segment of our society. Driven by the belief that "to whom much is given, much is required," this exposure ignited my drive to democratize these opportunities, leading to the founding of Cadre in 2014.   Reflecting on Cadre's decade-long journey evokes immense pride, gratitude, and renewed motivation. Pride in our achievements: Over $4.5 billion in asset value acquired in 25 U.S. markets, more than $460 million in capital returned to clients, the industry’s first secondary marketplace and only digital real estate investment platform trusted by global institutional clients ranging from endowments to foundations to asset managers.   Gratitude for every dedicated employee, investor, and partner who believed in our vision, and turned our dreams into a reality.   Motivation because today marks the most monumental news since Cadre's founding - propelling us to even greater heights and fulfilling our founding vision by bringing access to more individuals than ever before. I am thrilled to announce that Cadre is joining the YieldStreet family, merging our businesses and establishing the leading global digital alternatives investment platform.   Together, we will unlock an array of institutional alternatives from real estate to private credit to private equity and beyond from Main Street to Wall Street.   Michael Weisz, Yieldstreet’s Founder and CEO, is a visionary leader. Cadre and Yieldstreet will leverage each other's strengths. Cadre will offer its institutional, family office, and RIA clients access to a more diverse base of alternative investments including credit , private equity and more originated on the YieldStreet platform. YieldStreet will provide hundreds of thousands of their clients access to Cadre's real estate offerings and access to Cadre's proprietary secondary marketplace offering liquidity.   This merger signifies more than a professional achievement; it's a personal triumph, breaking barriers in an industry once out of reach. Our combined efforts mean Cadre’s valuation is soaring into the hundreds of millions of dollars, and our business will be positioned to reach profitability.   This is a defining moment. Our mission to make alternative investing more accessible and inclusive continues with greater fervor.   Thank you to our team, partners, and investors for your steadfast support. Your belief in our vision has driven our success and together, we'll create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.   #alternativeinvestments #Cadre #nextgen #realestate

How significant are debt maturities for commercial real estate investors? Forty-four percent of the debt maturing over the next two years “is potentially troubled,” according to CRE services firm Newmark. As owners face increased financing challenges, sophisticated investors may provide rescue capital or purchase properties at a discount to recent pricing.
