We congratulate Dr. Hector Eduardo Velasco in his retirement from his role as Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Velasco will be appreciated for his many contributions to our institution since joining Burrell College in July 2022. He has developed an exceptional Academic Affairs leadership team and refined the processes of the Office of Academic Affairs, including oversight of the Offices of Preclinical Education and Curriculum Effectiveness and Evaluation. He has also helped oversee the Office of Clinical Education and Library Services during his tenure. He has headed initiatives that have led to continued upward trends in our COMLEX pass rates and contributed to our students' advising and well-being through his Wellness, Academic Achievement, Resilience, and Mindfulness (WARM) Program. Dr. Velasco's decades-long career has included work in Family Medicine in Mexico and public health and health professions education in both Mexico and the United States. Congratulations Dr. Velasco on reaching this career milestone and wishing him the best in life's next chapter. Here’s an interview Dr. Velasco did with Telemundo last year.
