This week over 200 scholars from our summer enrichment programs visited the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for a tour and to explore the powerful exhibit Before and After Again. This exhibit features artwork, prose, and poetry by local artists Julia Bottoms, Tiffany Gaines, and Poet Jillian Hanesworth, created in response to the tragic slaying of ten Buffalo residents on May 14, 2022, at the Tops Friendly Market on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo, New York. Our students had the unique opportunity to hear directly from the artists about their creative processes and engage in a meaningful Q&A session. We’re excited to join Bank of America in celebrating 20 years of the #BofAStudentLeaders program, which has inspired over 4,500 students to serve and lead in their communities. Buffalo Prep is proud to have hosted Student Leaders for several years, offering them insight into the operations of nonprofits and our programs. This year, we welcome Buffalo Niagara’s 2024 Student Leaders: Abubakr Jallow, a recent PS 156 Frederick Law Olmsted and Buffalo Prep graduate, and Alessandra Ferrer, a rising Williamsville North senior.
