Opinion: We are in a new Lochner era, characterized by a Supreme Court determined to thwart the will of the people and longstanding constitutional doctrines, particularly in areas relating to fundamental rights and government regulation. I applaud these ideas, but don’t believe they go far enough. Read Brennan Center for Justice Fellow Caroline Fredrickson's full opinion here: https://lnkd.in/ekDDgVv8

A ruling that disqualified Vinson & Elkins from representing a client sent shock waves through the bankruptcy world. Philadelphia-headquartered firm Duane Morris was sued for allegedly misclassifying a “partner” to reduce business and tax expenses.

The Paris Summer Olympics include some of the most public and controversial rollouts ever of algorithmic video surveillance, an AI event-security technology that uses machine learning to analyze video footage in real time to detect—and even predict—threats and other anomalies. While French lawmakers call the tool a security measure aimed at shielding the multi-week event from violence, privacy advocates on both sides of the Atlantic have sounded alarms.
