For meet the team Monday, we want to introduce to you James Townsend, the founder, and a partner at Ascent Legal Group. He is an entrepreneurial attorney with a wealth of experience in managing and growing law practices. He co-authored a transformative Petition for Writ of Certiorari to the Colorado Supreme Court in 2004, changing the legal standard for grandparent visitation in Colorado. James’s journey began at the University of Idaho College of Law and continued with the Colorado Office of the Public Defender. He has since worked in civil litigation, criminal defense, estate planning and probate, personal injury, and family law. His dedication earned him roles as a Director of Operations and the Chief Operations Officer two of Colorado's largest family law firms, and in 2017, he was named the Professional of the Year by the Douglas and Elbert County Bar Association. James also serves on the private boards of two companies and has engaged in his local community as an Ambassador for the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce and as the Representative for District 2 on the Castle Rock Town Council. James's global perspective, fluency in Spanish and Portuguese, and passion for community engagement enhance his practice. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar, skateboarding, and spending quality time with his wife and five children.
