  • ADCV&R welcomes Colin Miller. Mr. Miller’s prior experience includes working as a summer law clerk for ADCV&R in 2023 and serving as a judicial intern for the Honorable Douglas R. M. Nazarian in the Appellate Court of Maryland. Mr. Miller graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2021, and he graduated from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 2024. During law school, Mr. Miller was a member of the Youth, Education, and Justice Clinic, and he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers for his work on the National Trial Team. Mr. Miller also worked as a teaching assistant for Professor Matiangai Sirleaf. Mr. Miller recently took the Maryland Bar in 2024, and he is currently awaiting the results.

  • With great sadness we announce that H. Patrick “Pat” Donohue of Rockville, MD, passed away on July 16, 2024 at the age of 73, with his family by his side. He is the beloved husband of 46 years to Elizabeth “Lisa” Donohue; Loving father of Kathryn “Kate” and Adam Freedenberg; Cherished grandfather of Nolan, Patrick, and Jack Freedenberg; Dear brother of Tom, Susan, and Terry Donohue.; and he is also survived by many other loving relatives, friends, and colleagues.   Pat was born in Springfield, OH and he was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Ursula Donohue. He was a graduate of Bowling Green University (1972), and a graduate of Catholic University Law School (1977). He was an associate attorney and then partner at Donahue and Ehrmantraut from 1977 through 1987. He was a Co-Founder of the law firm Armstrong, Donohue, Ceppos, Vaughan and Rhoades, established in 1987. He retired in May of 2017. Afterwards he became President of the Gaithersburg Community Soup Kitchen until his illness in 2023.   A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1513 Dunster Road, Rockville, MD on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 11:00 am.   • Carolyn Demougeot and Ken Armstrong obtained a defense verdict after 29 minutes of deliberations in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The Plaintiffs brought a wrongful death claim and survival action against the Defendant, a family medicine practitioner, due to their loved one’s sudden cardiac death. After a hard fought 6 day jury trial, the jury determined that the Defendant health care provider had acted reasonably throughout his care of the Decedent.

  • ADCV&R attorneys, Ken Armstrong and Alex Adkins, obtained a defense verdict in a jury trial in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland on behalf of a health care provider. The medical malpractice action involved allegations of medical negligence relating to arthroscopic surgery and compartment syndrome. After a four-day jury trial, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant in less than one hour. The jury found that the health care provider complied with applicable standards of care. Judgment was entered in favor of the defendant.

  • Andrew J. Spence joined ADCV&R as a Partner in February 2024. Mr. Spence specializes in the defense of health care providers, including physicians and hospitals, in cases of alleged medical malpractice. He also defends health care providers in licensing and credentialing matters. Mr. Spence has handled numerous jury trials and appellate matters. Mr. Spence received his undergraduate degree from Hamilton College in 1984 and his J.D. from the National Law Center at The George Washington University in 1988. ADCV&R is pleased to welcome Mr. Spence to our team of attorneys.
