Most of us know that fiber is an important part of a healthy diet, but a new study suggests that a specific type of fiber found in cereal and oats is optimal for weight loss. Nikky Contractor, Global R&D Leader for Amway, helped Medical News Today analyze the implications of this new study and explained how to effectively incorporate fiber into your diet without unwanted symptoms. An expert in nutrition and wellness, Dr. Contractor confirmed these results are consistent with findings from the human microbiome research sphere that indicate that a diversity of fiber intake is correlated with an increased diversity of gut bacteria.   Read the full article below.   #Health #GutHealth #WeAreAmway

Recently featured in NutraIngredients-Asia, a leading online news source for the nutrition industry in the Asia-Pacific, our Asia Regional President and Chief Strategy & Corporate Development Officer Asha Gupta shared how Amway is sharpening its focus on three strategic areas: preventive health, plant protein, and community building to promote healthy habits that ultimately advance healthspan – the number of years a person is able to enjoy an active, independent life.   If the pandemic showed us anything, it’s that increasing awareness is the greatest investment we can make in our health. Asha puts it best, “Longevity is a recurring theme worldwide. The future is looking to be governed by healthspan – people wish to live not just longer but healthier and longer. How we can bridge the gap that exists between healthspan and lifespan is coming into play.” Read the full article below. #Health #Wellbeing #WeAreAmway

Research shows that today’s consumers are thirsty for transparency and want to see evidence of sustainability practices along the supply chain. In a recent article in Food Business News, our Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Will Templeton, explains that consumer preferences are placing increased emphasis on environmental sustainability as customers choose brands that prioritize ethical sourcing and environmentally conscious production. That’s one reason customers choose our Nutrilite brand, the first and only global vitamin and dietary supplement brand with a USDA organic product line to grow, harvest and process plants on its own certified organic farms. From seed to shelves, we can trace every detail to ensure purity and safety for our products and our consumers. Community health and wellbeing are built into everything we do at Amway, which is why we make ideal partners with the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. This hometown hero shares our passion for building stronger, healthier communities, backed by a bold tenacity to innovate measurable, meaningful ways to change lives for the good.   For decades, we’ve put our heads and hearts together on several initiatives that nurture young people, build leaders, promote healthy families, and foster a sense of social responsibility.   Consider Veggie Van™, a year-round mobile farmers market that makes weekly stops in Grand Rapids and Muskegon to distribute low-cost produce where access to affordable fresh food is limited. In 2023, the Veggie Van™ was on the road 51 weeks out of the year, providing over 15,000 food access interventions. In just one month, Amway purchased nearly $3,100 of produce grown within 35 miles of the Mary Free Bed YMCA and, during the 2023 growing season, we offered 46 different kinds of produce, with all money directly going back into the local economy.   The Y provides nutrition education to more than 500 students and across 20 family events; leadership development through Y We EmpowHER, a program that encourages young women to explore different avenues to mindfulness and positive mental and physical health; and community fitness classes that jumpstart health and wellbeing in all ages.   What’s more, Amway North America recently embarked on a $1.2 million, three-year initiative to build healthier, stronger communities through anti-hunger initiatives that help the Y meet the essential nutritional needs of young people and families in more communities across the US. Read more in the first comment below.   Supporting the communities where we do business has always been at the heart of our story. In 2023, Amway invested $2.8 million to benefit more than 100 nonprofit champions like the Y right here in West Michigan, where we first put down roots.   Cheers to another year of making lives better and healthier with the Y and our growing group of courageous community partners! #WeAreAmway

U.S. News & World Report ranks Grand Rapids as the 20th best place to live out of 150 metro areas. Our city has also been recognized as one of the nation’s best to raise a family.   Yet not all families have the same access to living their best lives. The median Grand Rapids household income is just $42,000, with Black and Hispanic families earning even less––$25,000 and $31,000 respectively. What’s more, 45% of households live below the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) threshold, with Black residents more than twice as likely to be unemployed as White residents. The West Michigan Center for Arts + Technology - WMCAT aims to address these inequities.   Illuminating pathways of opportunity for underserved families is the key driver behind the important work of WMCAT. Amway is proud to partner in their mission to create a culture of opportunity that inspires people to make social and economic progress in their lives and community.   Guided by a vision of equitable access to opportunity, WMCAT focuses on three areas: Arts + Tech, Workforce Development, and Social Enterprise. At the center of our partnership is their Adult Career Training Program, which gives under- and unemployed adults a pathway to income stability and sustainable economic security for their families.   This people-centered initiative provides tuition-free career training, leadership development, and externships with local employers across the careers of Pharmacy Technician and Cybersecurity.   It’s life changing work with a lasting impact: 70% of 2023 graduates were employed as of November 2023 and 80% of 2021 grads remain employed after two years. Amway celebrates the access and pathways that WMCAT has built to ensure the success and long-term financial stability of their students.   Supporting the communities where we do business has always been at the heart of our story. In 2023, Amway invested $2.8 million to benefit more than 100 nonprofit champions like WMCAT right here in West Michigan, where we first put down roots. #WeAreAmway
