TNS update: President Joe Biden signed a historic Executive Order to usher in the next era of Tribal self-determination by ensuring Tribal Nations have greater autonomy over how they invest federal funding. The E.O. also affirms that Tribal governments must be treated as permanent, equal, and vital parts of America's overlapping system of government. The last 50 years have proven that Tribal Nations are the most crucial factor in ensuring the economic, political, and cultural well-being of Native people. We are the first Tribal Library in the Yukon Kuskokwim Delta! 🔥 We are proud of the work Akiak Holdings, LLC accomplished for our Native Village to obtain free broadband for our newly formed, Akiak Tribal Library. With their help and Akiak Technology, LLC, we overcame immense hurdles to create our tribal library and submitted our E-Rate Tribal Library application to the Federal Communications Commission. The Library will provide access to services and help our citizens find ways to learn about the world beyond our tribe. Quyana Cakneq!

When we empower our cultural selves through speaking our languages, we begin to undo the damage caused by years of cultural and linguistic oppression.
