It was a privilege and an honor to present the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE)'s 2024 Guardian Award to Jeff German of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Lizzie Johnson of the The Washington Post for their reporting on financial crime and corruption. I humbly shared the stage with Lizzie and Jeff's editor, Glenn Cook, to pay tribute to the man, investigative reporter, friend and colleague that Jeff was to the city of Las Vegas. In 2022, Jeff was murdered outside of his home. The accused was the subject of an article he was working on about alleged misconduct in a public administrator's office. In addition to the legacy Jeff left behind, he had another major story about a $550M Ponzi scheme that Lizzie finished on his behalf. I hope not just telling their stories, but honoring them, educates others about the tenacity and fearlessness that lies behind the investigative news reports we read every day.

It was an honor to be able to present the 2024 Cressey Award yesterday to Damian Williams, US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and to be able to join him for a discussion about his thoughts, experiences and strategic vision for SDNY. I know all our attendees learned a lot from him and drew inspiration from the great work he and SDNY are doing! #Fraudconf
