Emily O’Mahoney, Managing Principal at 2GHO, was honored to receive her Past President Pin after serving her three elected years as President-Elect, President, and Immediate Past President during the American Society of Landscape Architect’s Board of Trustee’s meeting on October 5th in Washington D.C. She was pinned by current President SuLin Kotowicz, FASLA and Torey Carter-Conneen, CAE. As of October 9, 2024, Kona Gray (EDSA) will be President, Brad McCauley (Site Design) will be President-Elect and SuLin Kotowicz, FASLA (VIRIDIS Design Group). Check out this site revisit at Ocean Mall! 2GHO, Inc., Landscape Architects, Planners, Environmental Consultants was the designer of the Municipal Beach at Ocean Mall (landscape architecture and planning) under the direction of Catalfumo for the City. The 2005 design provided for many different types of users and offers a variety of experiences within a backbone of strong circulation and unified site furniture.

2GHO is pleased to announce the installation of this 3D digitally printed BENCH here at the Cornerstone project in Jupiter Florida which is getting close to completion! The Cornerstone project is a 15-unit high-end residential project with a small commercial component within the Town of Jupiter’s US Highway One/Intracoastal Waterway District – Entertainment Subdistrict – and sits on the Town’s Riverwalk, a public amenity that 2GHO has had the pleasure to work on over the years. The development is being done by Jupiter Investments, LLC and being built by Seach Construction. The bench was part of the complex approval process for the public plaza area requiring a unique ‘art’ bench which we had designed in unison with the surrounding area. Due to timing and other extenuating circumstances, the introduction of Pikus 3D process was a life saver! They took the constraints and gave us many different ideas based upon the original design. We ran it by the Town for their approval. AND THEN THEY PRINTED IT! Easy peasy! They created it in 3D on the computer and then they can print it in 3D out of cement mixture material. I am sure it is not as simple as that because there was structural involved to span the distance it does, AND the bench is really heavy. It can not be shifted by manpower……so it makes a good public bench. The ’rock’ is finished smoothly, as would be a rock, while the bench is done with the layers from the printing, which was as requested by us. It can be finished differently. The ends of the bench have metal caps. The ideas are endless….limited by your imagination. While this is not exactly like the original intent, the whole plaza has had unexpected changes as we often get. The overall is a unique bench in a unique space identifying a high-profile corner. We are super pleased and so is the client! This is definitely the first digitally printed bench in Jupiter. It may be the first in Florida…..who knows!
