Apart from Caching, I find the shared memory concept very interesting especially when you have multiple components in the system like multiple CPUs or NPUs. Having shared memory where we can read and write data from one component and the same data can be accessed without having to make expensive calls improves the performance significantly.

Apart from Scale and Regression testing, we should introduce chaos testing which tests the system's robustness. Also, designers make sure that thread dump and log trace are present which can provide valuable information on race conditions, looping failure, etc. Also, a big effort should go into automating this to run it frequently if not daily but per build.

Adopting best practices, FOCUSED code reviews, refactoring for optimization, and performance testing(in all layers) can enhance software performance significantly.
