As a venture capitalist, your idea is always to find ideas and trends that are upcoming and stories that are yet to be told. Hence it becomes really important to choose the right story and venture to reach out. This is not sales but a proper research driven exercise

Having been on both sides (pitching and being pitched), it's all about building your network of like-minded people(and investors). There are a million resources, but it ends up all being noise. That said, you can't leave a stone unturned. The most important thing is to be polite and thoughtful of people's times - no matter what side you come from. There isn't enough time in the day, and everyone is doing their best(well, almost everyone).

This is the most vital strategy for any VC. VC's should be focused on Thought Leadership and Generating lot of High Value Content in order to attract the Best Founders to them. ITS ESSENTIALLY the BREAD and BUTTER for most VC's.

This is a great strategy as well which I extensively deploy. Partnering with Incubators and Accelerators to get deals at an early stage and at the same time sharing them our deals for mutual benefit and a long term partnership.

Get out from behind your desk. Attend local events in your niche, be helpful not salesy, listen more than pitch. You'll find your best deals face to face.
