As a photographer, I have used AI technology for some time in the form of certain edits in Photoshop and Lightroom. As far as generating a whole image using AI tools I would consider that a completely different genre. The two are not the same just as painting a scene using a brush is different than using a camera to capture the same scene. I don’t like photos being mistaken for AI nor do I like AI being mistaken as photos. AI has its place but for me not as a replacement for photography.

My specialization is in remote locations with exploration crews. A personal connection to workers and isolation from the outside world is a very hard thing to be conceived by AI. The work done is messy and exhausting to follow along with crews but produces a very unique product for clients.

As for AI, I think it will have a very minimal impact for most photography businesses in terms of competition. But, I see it as a potentially useful tool for a few.

If it was, I'd be able to play a decent game of chess against it. You add value by selling a vision and then delivering on it. If you can't do one or the other, you need to work on that, or computers are going to be the least of your problems.
