Explain to a kid with real life examples they already had. If they give an exam and fill out a paper and hand it after 45min to the teacher, do they know what the teacher does after he goes home? No? Exactly! The teacher verifies the informations you wrote on that piece of paper. The paper you filled your name and answers was the frontend what you can look at and feel, and the backend is what you don't see and get an answer.

Be the best possible teacher in your field. For most non technical people this is a very boring field and they don't have the motivation to learn with the love you already have as a software engineer with tools, programming languages and frameworks. Be easy to understand and put interesting real life examples into your presentation which already should be interesting for every each person in the room. Be funny and open with your knowledge.
