Goodbye, Gun Shy.
Hello, Big Shot.

From first-time shooters to master marksman, Club Members are smitten with The Sporting Club. With its emphasis on fun, camaraderie, and safety, the 800-acre facility has fostered a spirited fan base of men, women, and children of every skill level. A roster of activities and top-tier instruction invite participants to enjoy sporting clay, skeet, and five-stand shooting as well as a 10-station 3-D archery course weaving through the woodland terrain. In addition, The Sporting Club plays host to an impressive range of Member events including Ladies’ Sporting Club Days, trunk shows, bourbon tastings, recurring introduction days and tournaments throughout the year. And for an authentic taste of southern tradition, quail hunting will mark the brisk days of autumn. The Sporting Club will play host to guided hunts, accompanied by dogs, across a series of fields in October.

Sporting Clays

Often described as “golf with a shotgun,” sporting clays most closely resemble field shooting. The Sporting Club’s 10-station course features three traps at each station and a new challenge presented at each. While some clays might be launched from behind bushes, others will bound across the grass, simulating a rabbit on the run.

Five Stand

Like Sporting Clays, a wide variety of targets are thrown in five stand. The Sporting Club pairs five “stands” or stations from which to shoot, with six unique traps that vary in difficulty. At each stand, participants shoot in turn as targets are thrown.

Skeet

An exciting sport, slightly more challenging than trap, skeet’s spring-loaded trap’s targets are thrown diagonally across the shooter’s field of vision as well as directly away from them.

3-D Archery

Welcome to 10 stations of challenging fun for all ages. Here, an assortment of simulated animal targets are presented from ground level and elevated stands along the walking course. Guests feeling rusty may utilize three individually distanced practice targets before heading out on the hunt.

Our Shooting Stars

Whether hosting a corporate event, bachelorette party, or giving individual lessons, Elizabeth Fennell and Taylor Johnson aim to please. The Sporting Club’s instructors lead Members with patience and encouragement, creating a shooting experience unique to the needs and desires of each participant. Sporting Club Manager Taylor Johnson is a certified Level-I instructor. Elizabeth, one of only four National Sporting Clays Association Level III instructors boasts more than a decade of experience in instruction and developed one of the country’s top shooting programs before arriving on Kiawah’s shores.

“One of my favorite things is to bring people into the sport. And I get to do a lot of that here at The Sporting Club.”
– Elizabeth Fennell, Lead Instructor
