Chapelton Maroons hold Mt Pleasant to draw in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Former champions Mt Pleasant missed a chance to go to fourth place in the Jamaica Premier League and had to rally to earn a 1-1 draw against Chapelton Maroons in the second game of the double-header at Drewsland Mini stadium on Monday.
Mt Pleasant, who finished the game with 10 players, inched up to 16 points from nine games, on goal-difference ahead of Cavalier FC, while Chapelton are in ninth place with nine points.
Damari Deacon gave Chapelton the lead in the 49th minute but Mt Pleasant rescued a point after substitute Raheem Edwards scored deep into added time.
Mt Pleasant were playing with 10 men by then after Jahshaun Anglin picked up a second yellow card in the 86th minute.
Meanwhile in the first game of the double-header last-placed Molynes United won for the second time this season, beating Dunbeholden FC 2-0 and ended their six games winless run.
It was back- to- back losses for Dunbeholden after they had won three games in a row.
Carlos Cooper scored the first goal in the 21st minute and Jowell Powell added a second in the 30th minute.
