Kneecap play The Forum [Sarah Ellis]

I first saw Kate Nash playing a tiny gig at The Boogaloo in 2007 in support of the Stables market traders. She was at the height of her newfound fame, kicked off by single Foundations, which captured the essence of a certain kind of north London female-led indie of the time. A lot has happened since then – with Nash releasing a number of albums, turning to acting and being cast in Netflix hit wrestling show Glow, overcoming financial setbacks and having released her fifth album earlier this year. See her at Koko on Nov 28.

With their witty, bilingual, socially conscious, satirical rap and their recent self-titled comedy movie featuring Michael Fassbender, Irish band of the moment, Kneecap, have been making waves. The Belfast-based trio – Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí – whose Toddla T-produced debut album Fine Art was released earlier this year, play The Forum on Nov 21.

• Experience a little desi royalty as Bohemia, described as the king of Punjabi rap, brings his blend of traditional Punjabi influences with modern hip-hop beats to Scala on Nov 17.

Folk troubadour Bella Gaffney (of The Magpies) weaves original compositions with traditional British folk and Americana music. She plays Green Note on Nov 18.

• As part of its 130th anniversary celebrations, Gibson Garage London’s free acoustic sessions continue this week with special performances from Welsh soul artist Nia Wyn on Nov 21 and busker and Glasto staple Alex Hall (City Limits) on Nov 26.

It seems 90s boy band r’n’b is still in demand as Damage’s show at Islington Academy on Nov 22 is already sold out.

• Controversial Aussie punk outfit Amyl and The Sniffers finish their three-night residency at the Roundhouse tonight (Nov 15).

EFG London Jazz Festival begins this week, running to Nov 24, at venues across London with a talent-laden line-up including Meshell Ndegeocello (Nov 15); Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 (Nov 17); Robert Glasper (Nov 18 and 21) at Koko; Billy Cobham at 80 (Nov 20): Imelda May (Nov 23); Anohni singing Lou Reed (Nov 24) all at the Southbank Centre plus many, many more.

• Scouse folk hero Jamie Webster is known for his politically charged music and allegiances to Liverpool FC. He plays The Forum on Nov 27.

Approaching their 20th anniversary, The Horrors have announced a series of intimate winter shows including a stop-off at the ICA on Nov 28. Their sixth album Night Life is out on March 21.
