‘The Fall of the House of Usher’ Trailer: Mike Flanagan Adapts Edgar Allan Poe for Chilling Netflix Series

Mike Flanagan is getting spooky season started with the haunting “The Fall of the House of Usher” Netflix limited series, inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe.
“The Haunting of Hill House” and “Midnight Mass” creator Flanagan acts as showrunner and directs four out of the eight episodes; Michael Fimognari helms the other half.
Per the official synopsis, ruthless siblings Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell) have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege, and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.
Flanagan’s frequent collaborator Carla Gugino stars, along with Carl Lumbly and Mark Hamill. The ensemble cast additionally includes Michael Trucco, T’Nia Miller, Paola Nuñez, Henry Thomas, Kyleigh Curran, Samantha Sloyan, Rahul Kohli, Kate Siegel, Sauriyan Sapkota, Zach Gilford, Willa Fitzgerald, Katie Parker, Malcolm Goodwin, Crystal Balint, Aya Furukawa, Daniel Jun, Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annabeth Gish, Igby Rigney, and Robert Longstreet.
Trevor Macy and Flanagan of Intrepid Pictures, along with Emmy Grinwis and director Fimognari, serve as executive producers. “The Fall of the House of Usher” is expected to be Flanagan’s final Netflix project after his Intrepid Pictures signed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios in December 2022. Flanagan is currently adapting Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower.”
“Predating our deal with Amazon, we acquired the rights to ‘The Dark Tower,’ which if you know anything about me, you know it has been my Holy Grail of a project for most of my life,” Flanagan said at the time. “We actually have those rights carved out of our Amazon deal, which doesn’t mean that they can’t or won’t get behind it at some point — you don’t know. But that’s something we’ve been developing ourselves and are really passionate about finally getting it up on its feet at some point.”
Flanagan previously adapted King’s “Gerald’s Game” and “The Shining” prequel “Doctor Sleep” for the big screen. “The Dark Tower” is set as a limited series.
